Arlington Thrive is the only organization in Arlington County, Virginia that provides same-day, emergency financial assistance to County residents who experience sudden financial crisis such as temporary unemployment or illness, so they can be secure in their jobs, health, and homes and thrive in a caring community.
Arlington County Fair
The Arlington County Fair is a non-profit volunteer-driven organization that embraces a diverse community by educating, entertaining, and showcasing the best of Arlington. It is one of the largest free events on the East Coast and has been providing quality entertainment for 40 years. In recent years, attendance has reached 74,000 as people come from Arlington and Northern Virginia to enjoy competitive exhibits, midway rides and games, entertainment, vendors, racing piglets, and more. Each year Thomas Jefferson Community Center is transformed into a special place with something for everyone to see. Admission is free, and shuttle service is provided from locations throughout Arlington.
Homeward Trails seeks to find permanent adoptive homes in the Mid-Atlantic Region for dogs and cats from high-kill shelters or whose owners can no longer care for them. In so doing, we seek to reduce the rate of euthanasia of adoptable animals through the rescue and placement of homeless animals; to support proactive spay/neuter practices; to promote positive and ongoing behavioral training; and to educate the public about how to care for their animals in a humane way. Homeward Trails not only facilitates adoptions from local shelters, but also supports a large network of foster care providers who take homeless dogs and cats into their homes, care for them, rehabilitate them when needed, and prepare them for their permanent adoptive homes.
